Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) works for a future where every Palestinian has access to a comprehensive, effective and locally-led system of healthcare, and the full realisation of their rights to health and dignity.

To achieve this, we work in collaboration with Palestinian communities and trusted local partners to answer a wide range of health and social needs, from providing vital medical aid in emergencies, to supporting the development of better health services for the long term. We also uplift the voices of Palestinians, and campaign for an end to the barriers to health and dignity that come from living through occupation, displacement, discrimination and conflict.

For 40 years, Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) has worked directly with Palestinian healthcare workers, partners and communities to develop sustainable, locally-led health services.
Currently, MAP is one of the only organisations able to deliver aid in Gaza. So far, we have provided more than $11 million USD worth of aid and assistance, reaching tens of thousands of Palestinians.

We put solidarity into action by working collaboratively as one MAP team, and working side-by-side with local partners and with volunteers, in genuine partnership, to address injustice.

We are inclusive, and we support diverse leaders within the Palestinian community, ensuring that both women and men – and those who may normally be underrepresented – can participate meaningfully in decision-making.

We deliver significant, sustainable impact for Palestinians in need.

In order to partner effectively with Palestinian communities and to maintain the trust of our local partners, volunteers, employees, supporters, donors, suppliers and other stakeholders, we always operate with integrity.

MAP is extremely fortunate to have an exceptional volunteer network consisting of highly skilled specialists from the UK and beyond, who play a vital role in supporting our capacity building initiatives in Lebanon, Gaza, and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem. Our volunteer network serves as an invaluable resource, enabling us to successfully execute numerous projects that would not be possible without the technical expertise of the volunteers. We are now looking to expand our volunteer network to support our breast cancer projects.

All volunteers need to demonstrate the following:
  • Consultant volunteers must be in a substantive NHS (or equivalent) Consultant post, and a minimum of 5 years into their post
  • Excellent technical skills
  • Good trainers and teachers with experience in clinical teaching/mentoring
  • Ability/willingness to work in a resource limited environment
  • Patient and remain calm in busy, stressful environments
  • Willingness to participate in regular MDTs (usually monthly but varies between projects)
  • Willingness to travel to Gaza/West Bank for six day trips in a multidisciplinary teams to deliver training
  • Commitment to abide by MAP’s safeguarding policy, Code of Conduct and security rules
